Did you know that the curve of your cornea determines how the light reflects into your retina and the type of image produced? We measure your cornea, record your vision then consult and recommend the best options available to you with all the latest technology!

We check for Glaucoma, a disease where high levels of pressure inside of your eye are present when your eyes fail to regulate internal pressure. Early detection of glaucoma is crucial to prevent the loss of sight.

We watch for cataracts, when the internal lens of your eye becomes cloudy and necessitates replacement.

Do you know what binocular vision is? It's when each of your eyes forms its own image and transfers these images to the brain. The brain fuses these two images into one. In order for this to occur, your eyes must move together, be aligned, and produce the same size and shape image. When this doesn't happen it's difficult to see clearly and usually causes strain and headaches. We also conduct a series of tests to assess the ability of your eye muscles to make sure that both eyes are working as a team!

DILATION: THOROUGH HEALTH CARE FOR YOUR EYES

The pupil is controlled by muscles that widen or narrow to regulate the amount of light entering the eye. When your eyes are examined, the pupil will automatically narrow if a light is directed toward your eye. This makes it very difficult to visualize the inside of the eye and it's structures. So, certain drops are used which temporarily prevent the pupil from narrowing. After the drops are administered, it takes a short amount of time (usually 15-30 minutes) to get the effect called dilation. After the examination is completed, the pupil begins to return to normal size within 4 to 6 hours. During this time, you may experience blurred vision and sensitivity to light. You should use caution when driving, and it is best to have someone drive you home from your examination.

Dilation is important because it allows the doctor to visualize the inside of your eye. The doctor evaluates for signs of abnormal blood vessels, signs of decreased oxygen to your eye, bleeding associated with high blood pressure or diabetes, signs of tumors or infection and much more. Please understand that although dilation may cause light sensitivity, it is necessary for a thorough eye health evaluation.
